St. Joseph’s says about 1.5 million masks are used per year in its organization
CBC News A hospital in London, Ont. says it’s the first in the province to switch to eco-friendly medical masks. St. Joseph’s Health Care announced Thursday it is now using medical grade masks that are biodegradable, compostable, and cheaper than what they were previously using. The new masks are made from plant-based polymers. Compared to synthetic masks, research shows they’ll produce 65 per cent less CO2 emissions from the time they’re made to the time they decompose in the landfill.
